Winter Creatures

I made these a few weeks back but forgot to post them. My new take on how to take small pieces of wood blocking and recycling them into Frosty, Clarise, Rudolph, and Angel. I have to pat myself on the back cause they are darn cute! One minor mistake - forgot to paint Rudolph's nose red.

Counting Down

Only a few more days left of 2010. I really wish I would have kept a list of important or milestone items that happened over the last 12 months. I guess that's what the Archives are for. LOL Had a great time visiting the family in East Otto for Christmas minus the nasty 24 hour flu bug that had most of us in the bathroom. Thankfully Lindsey's house has 2 of them :) Much better now. Returned home to find 14 inches of snow. Actually surprised because it didn't look so bad from the highway. So, now that we are dug out, time to just sit back and relax. Put away our gifts, still a few to wrap as we haven't seen all our family and friends just yet. But counting down to 2011 for sure.

Winter Solstice

Shortest day of the year - and will be the darkest in our lifetime. Missed out on the lunar eclipse and the moon turning a shade of red but I felt me sleeping would be more beneficial. However, I made sure to follow up this morning with videos and pictures of what it actually looked like. Kinda neat. So with the start of winter officially now here, lets get some snow on the ground because just being 30 degrees in alittle boring, and just plain cold. Can't wait to see how much is back in WNY. The dogs are going to freak!

Christmas in Connecticut

A view into Woodbury, CT during the Christmas Season. (Ignore the green grass. Still waiting for winter to start). Our friends have recently moved to Woodbury. Its a cute little antique town with tons of charm and history. Check it out.

Pearl Harbor

Taking a moment to remember and honor all those who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Sticky Buns

So after my virgin experience of being a master baker, some asked me to share the recipe I used at making my Sticky Buns. Of course, I can only take the credit for the sweat and time taken to make them. The recipe is one that was featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay. Lets just say Bobby's recipe didn't win.
FYI - if you are looking to cut at least half of the time out of this recipe, I advise you to skip making the Brioche Dough yourself and buy the dough from Pillsbury :)

Winter Gas Prices

Have you noticed the increase in gas prices since early November. A penny here, 2 cents there. Its gone from $2.75 to now $3.15 here in Danbury. It wasn't this high during the summer travel season! I sense another $3.50 a gallon before we know it.

Enjoy

I've finally decided to add some background music to sooth your soul while you view the blog. It will change based on the season. Hope it doesn't hog up your bandwidth to download and read. This one is our friends from Charlie Brown and their favorite "Christmas Time is Here". PS, it could take at least 30 seconds to load based on your internet speed
