Cayo Costa - Boat Trip

We left Captiva and made our way to Cayo Costa, an island just north of Captiva. It has beautiful white sandy beaches and very few homes. It is only accessible by boat. The homes on the islands are only powered by solar panels, they have their own above ground sewage systems, and water has to be filtered by the homeowners using their own filtration systems. After Hurricane Charlie ripped through in 2005, alot of the trees were destroyed which you can see in some of the pictures. It will take a while to get it plush with palm trees once again. This island is a great place to go shelling. I could have spent all day there on the beach.

  1. Hi, I am from the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel, and came across your blog. Your pictures are beautiful! Did you know Cayo Costa was recently named among the world’s best “hidden beaches” from Condé Nast Traveler magazine? Glad to see you had a good visit, hope you can come back soon!
