Where's my paint brush?

Well, the day has finally come where are the major items are done ( minus the cabinet and sink installation - give us another 2 weeks on that ). Grout is done. Trim is all up. So now ready for my paint brush. Will be swinging by Home Depot tonight to pick it up and hopefully get a coat on tonight. Oh, and a coat on the ceiling too. I hate ceiling painting.....

Almost There with Tile and Trim

Some cosmetic updates were made today to the bathroom and they look great! Tile was added to the upper walls of the shower. The grout will be done on Wednesday. It really helps set the tub apart and brings the floor up to the ceiling. You know, I don't even miss the stained glass window anymore. Wainscoting was added to the main wall under the window, behind the toilet and to the left of the space for the sink. Looks great! Can't wait to see how that looks against the paint color. Last but not least, trim was added to both the ceiling and floor to finish it off. Can't wait to see all the additions at the end of Wednesday. Should be close to complete. YEAH!

Rub a Dub Dub...

I love our new tub! And toilet! Its in and ready to use. Now, just to finish the tile, wainscoting, add the shower rod and curtain and paint. Just a few more things :)  No more deck trips or hurried hustle across the street!!!!

Finally Friday

When I arrived home from work, I was expecting, or should I say hoping, to see a toilet mounted and gleaming with pride and ready to be used.... but that didn't happen as after 3 tries and 3 flanges, they put it on hold. Which is a good thing as we decided to first put up the wainscoting around the bottom of the walls first, as well as the floor trim before trying to squeeze behind. But... we have all the drywall up and spackle and tape. We also have the floor grouted and we can finally walk on it! It looks great!!!!  So, no further work beyond us buying more materials, checking out paint colors for the walls, and hoping that Monday and Tuesday go as planned. Oh, and I didn't get a picture of it but Jay was the first to actually take a whirlpool bath Saturday morning. Much more comfortable and enjoyable than the old. Also show the transition from the kitchen into the bath. No worries. The wood strip will be stained to match. More to come soon!!!

Day 5 : I Spy Walls & Tile

We've got walls and tile on the floor!!!!! Loving the contrast of the 18" darker tiles against the bright white tub. We we're going to do a complete wall tile instead of the tub surround, but since we weren't going to be putting in shower doors, all that tile would be hidden behind a curtain. Waste of money and labor. But we will be putting tile above the surround. Day 6... going to be a BIG day!!!!!

Day 4 : Coming Together

Wednesday was a good day. Well, minus Jay waking up with a horrible cold/the flu and having to make sure the contractors continue with the work as planned instead of staying in bed. He's the best. So while I was at work, here's what he was able to get accomplished.
1. Removed all the old pipes.
2. Moved the toilet over a few inches to make room for the bigger tub.
3. Installed new sink pipes.
4. Installed new shower pipes and venting.
5. Built new and larger tub wall.
6. INSTALLED THE TUB & RUNNING WATER!!!!!

Day 3 : Moving On

Well, the first Day 3 didn't go as planned. With the almost 1 foot of snow we got, the guys had other things to do I guess. So Jay and I did what we could around the bathroom itself, I shoveled at least 3 times, and went to Home Depot again to buy the shower rod, new lighting fixture and made sure we picked out the right shower head, handle, and trim that we actually wanted. So... today is Day 3 again. Take 2.

Day 2 : Bye Bye Tub & Tile

No more tub.
No more tile.
In goes the new insulation.
Ready for Day 3 : Move electric line for whirlpool, move pipes for taller shower, move toilet for, well, you know what.

And so it begins...Bathroom Remodel 2010

Let the countdown begin. Plan is that in less than 5 days, we will have an all new tiled bathroom floor and shower with whirlpool tub and a man's man toilet. Now, you might be thinking, what about a sink? We've got custom cabinetry on order that includes a space for linen closet - FINALLY! And we still have to pick out the granite top. So... between now and then, cross your fingers all goes to plan. Cause peeing in this bucket, brushing my teeth at the kitchen sink and throwing water on me to feel like I showered, isn't going to last long.
DEMO DAY #1 - SUNDAY
The sink was taken out by yours truly and we took it up the street to Jay's sister's condo. No need to waste it when she can update her bath as well! Also took off all the molding, and sanded down the walls.

So it starts...

They actually closed PBG HQ today for the first time that I can remember in the last 8 years, but thanks to our laptops, we can still work from home. Oh well.

SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY AND INTO TONIGHT. BY THE TIME SNOW ENDS TONIGHT... TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED. AS THE STORM INTENSIFIES... NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE AND BECOME QUITE STRONG AND GUSTY BY AFTERNOON. GUSTS OF 30 TO 35 MPH WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW... WITH NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AT TIMES ALONG WITH POSSIBLE POWER OUTAGES... AGAIN MAINLY THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING!!!
Lets see what actually falls from the sky!!!

What will happen?

Thousands of people are expected to gather before dawn in western Pennsylvania to await a weather forecast by the world's most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney (puhnk-suh-TAW'-nee) Phil. German tradition holds that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says spring will come early. The Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club annually announces Phil's forecast at dawn on Gobbler's Knob, about 65 miles northeast of PittsburghThe National Weather Service has forecast 15-degree temperatures and overcast skies for the announcement. The Groundhog Club says since 1887 Phil has predicted more winter weather by seeing his shadow nearly 100 times, but there are no records for nine years.
Just bring in it, Groundhog!!!!
P.S
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!!
